The Sixth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution guarantees every citizen the right to counsel if they are charged with a crime. If you are not able to afford a private attorney, the court will appoint a public defender to represent you.

A misdemeanor is a criminal offense in Arkansas with a maximum penalty of one year in jail and/or a $1000.00 fine. Examples of misdemeanors would be a DWI and Theft of less than $250.00.

You have the right to remain silent and anything you say can be used against you. You have the right to call an attorney or someone to contact an attorney for you. This right is more commonly referred to as one of the "Miranda" rights.

No. In our legal system, you are innocent until proven guilty. The burden of proof is on the prosecuter to prove whether or not you are indeed guilty of the crime of which you were charged.
